Woman sues septic service company for unfinished work

It's not uncommon for an individual to hire outside providers to do household repairs, such as electrical work or plumbing. A Lebanon, Oregon woman claimed that she paid thousands of dollars to a local company and received nothing in return. Bringing civil litigation against a septic service provider, which operates throughout the mid-valley region, the woman claims that the company failed to follow through with services she paid for in advance. The lawsuit, which was filed in circuit court, also named the company's principal owner as a defendant.

The woman said she paid the company $9,000 to make repairs to her septic tank and sewage system. The company was supposed to do the work during the spring or summer of 2010, but still has not. Furthermore, the woman's lawyer pointed out that the owner of the company does not even have the right certification to do the work.

If the company loses, it could end up paying the woman $27,000 in treble damages, because she is considered an elderly individual under state law.

The woman is a part of a growing list of customers who were allegedly left hanging by the septic company. A man from Eugene and a couple from Lebanon also filed complaints with the attorney general's office about the company. A lawyer representing the elderly woman, and who is aiding the others in filing their complaints, said his clients want to let others know about the company's unfair tactics.

The company and its owner filed a response to the recent lawsuit, saying that they were ready and willing to perform the requested services, but the plaintiff prevented them from doing so. He also pointed to what he claimed were thousands of satisfied customers as proof the alleged incident was not characteristic for the company.
